Hot Video Poker: Caribbean Stud
Poker is normally played against other players and can be found in special poker venues or at card rooms in casinos. However, there are several poker games that are played against the house like other casino games, and therefore are common at casinos next to other casino table games. Here, we describe and explain the rules of the most popular video poker game: Caribbean Stud Poker.
Caribbean Stud
Caribbean poker is a sort of Stud Poker. The full name of the game is Caribbean Stud Poker. As well as other casino poker games Caribbean poker is played against the house, viz. a player wins if he beats the hand of the dealer and loses otherwise, regardless of cards other players have.
Betting Systems:
There are two possible bets in Caribbean stud:
- The Ante
- The Bet
The bet is normally twice bigger than the ante. The ante is a forced bet placed before the game starts. The bet may or may not be placed by the decision of the player.
How Caribbean Stud Poker is Played:
When the game starts the player and the dealer receive five cards each. One of the dealer's cards is revealed. At this moment, the player decides whether to place the bet or not. Not placing the bet is equal to folding. The player loses his ante and leaves the game. If the bet is placed, the game proceeds to showdown.
If the dealer does not have at least
A-K (an ace-high hand with a king), the player wins automatically, but is only paid even money on the ante, while the bet is returned as it is. If the dealer qualifies, his hand is compared to the player's one. If the dealer beats the player, the latter loses both the bet and the ante. If the player beats the dealer, he is paid even money on his ante, while the bet is paid in according to the hand he has.
